Lost Projects
Back in 2001, I formatted my computer without backing up any of my existing programming projects. Thus, all of my earliest work including several fully completed games were destroyed and there are just a few fragments of a couple old projects still lingering in the air. I will post details on all of the old projects that I am able to recollect.
DATES MENTIONED MAY NOT BE 100% ACCURATE
3D Movement Demo |
Project Updated: 08/02/2000
Description: A sort of tech demo that I created using one of the very early versions of Classic DB. It featured transparency, smooth player movement (with friction), object collision and rebounding, a 'paint' mode, multiple textures for the player, and more. This project was uploaded to an old free file hosting place that went belly-up and I have no copies of the executable or source files.

IntenciTron |
Project Updated: 08/30/2000
Description: This was a classic Tron-type game featuring two-player support, a variety of options including background styles and speed, a hi-score keeper, and a lot more. The only feature not yet implemented was good AI. This game gained a bit of popularity in my old school and so forth. IntenciTron was uploaded to an old free file hosting place that went belly-up and I have no copies of the executable or source files.

DB Christmas Competition 2000 |
Project Updated: 12/06/2000
Description: The objective of this competition was to create a winter screensaver/application using DB. I created both a Day and Night scene that led the watcher in real-time through a wintry mix of snow and related objects - leading up to "Happy Holidays" words in decorative 3D letters. The project was posted on some DB forums back when it was created but I can no longer find any traces of it (I have no source or executable files either).

Extreme Parachuting |
Project Updated: 02/05/2001
Description: I was primarily experimenting with different types of physics (wind, gravity, etc.) when I began working on this game. I had integrated player control, 75% of the wind physics, a landing pad and some very simple models. There was never any public versions released of this game and I have lost all source files.
|
DarkIMAGE |
Project Updated: 02/27/2001
Description: DarkIMAGE was going to be a tool for other DB developers, in which a person could include fully encrypted images in their projects (non-viewable outside of the running program) without needing to bundle them in the EXE itself. You could convert any JPG or GIF graphics into a custom format, and then with a paste function you could load any such images through your own applications. I had already implemented the ability to load and save a picture in my custom format (not yet optimized), a progress bar indicating the conversion process, general image statistics and the ability to load up the converted pictures in another program. An early build of this program was released on my site but I have since lost all source files and the executable itself.
|
2D Sprite Game |
Project Updated: 02/28/2001
Description: In this game, you were to control a ball with either the mouse or keyboard and had to simply avoid touching any of the always raising platforms. My main goal with this project was to see how fast I could get multiple sprites in the classic version of DB - which had a fair number of speed problems with sprites. An early build of this program was released on my site but I have since lost all source files and the executable itself.
